Vault Mobs

Red Guardian – A Vault Guardian found in Challenge Rooms.

Vault Mobs are hostile entities that spawn exclusively within Vaults. They are a core component of the Vault Hunters modpack, designed to challenge players through increasingly dangerous encounters that scale with player progression.

Unlike standard Minecraft mobs, Vault Mobs have:

  • Unique statistics and resistances
  • Specialized behaviors
  • Increased threat levels based on vault difficulty

Defeating Vault Mobs grants players Soul Shards, a rare currency used to purchase exclusive items from the Black Market Table.

Mob Categories

Vault Mobs are divided into several distinct categories, each with its own characteristics and combat style:

Hordes
Spawn in large groups with low health and damage. Meant to overwhelm rather than outlast.
Dwellers
Spawn in smaller numbers but deal high damage. Often emerge from trapped chests.
Assassins
Have moderate health with very high melee damage. Designed to quickly eliminate unsuspecting players.
Tanks
Possess large health pools and may feature special mechanics such as healing, retaliatory effects, or range-based abilities.
Champions
High-damage mobs capable of buffing nearby Vault Mobs or debuffing players.

On Hard Vault Difficulty+, Champions can also teleport to the player if unable to reach them.

Guardians
Elite protectors found in Challenge Rooms, defending valuable resources or objectives.
Note: Guardians no longer deal thorns damage.
Elites
Exceptionally dangerous Vault Mobs with unique mechanics, often guarding rare loot and presenting major combat challenges.
