Vault difficulty determines how tough the mobs are inside a Vault by adjusting their health and damage. It also changes the time available to complete a Vault God Task. It does not affect loot; loot is controlled by a separate game rule (see Vault Loot for details).
There are two types of Vault difficulty:
- Global difficulty: Applies to all players unless overridden.
- Local difficulty: Set per player and overrides the global setting for them.
