When you enter into a vault one of the first things you will be presented with is the vault theme. Vault hunters offers a variety of themes each offering unique benefits and challenges.
Themes offer a variety to the player not only in appearance and the resources available but also the mobs you fight.
Themes are broken down into the following categories

| Void | Void themes offer the player a higher chance of obtaining echo gems | Water is replaced in the vault by Void Liquid which will steal time from the player should they happen to fall into it | |
| Bloodveil | Bloodveil themes offer the player more Black opal and Painite | Mobs have a bleed effect when killed | |
| Nether | Nether Themes offer the player a higher amount of player gems | The mobs within nether themes are stronger and deal more damage to the player | |
| Deepcrag | Deepcrag offers the player more ores and chromatic caves will naturally generate | Tanks will heal themselves when fighting the player | |
| Saltshade | Saltshade offers the player greater riches with fuller coin piles at an increased rate | Saltshade has a increased amount of ranged mobs | |
| Snowfall | Snowfall vaults will offer the play a higher amount of Larimar | Some Snowfall mobs have a chilling effect on the player | |
| Sandsworn | Sandsworn will offer the player a higher amount of Alexandrite | Creepers will spawn within this vault which if exploded will destroy chests, coins and ore POI's | |
| Glimmergrove | Glimmergrove Vaults will naturally generate diamond caves | Slimes will spawn within this vault which leave a poison cloud when killed |

In addition to the above themes there are some rare festive themes categorised as Candoria, these offer no additional loot benefits to the player.
You are able to control the theme of a vault using an Augment. These have a chance to drop in the completion crate of a vault and will match the theme completed by the player.
