A Jewel Pouch being opened.

Jewel Pouches

Jewel Pouches are a loot reward found inside Gilded Vault Chests within the Vault. They contain Jewels used to modify or upgrade Vault Tools.

Once a Jewel Pouch is obtained, the player can choose between two identification methods depending on how much control is desired over the resulting Jewel.

Identification Methods

Manual Identification

The player can hold the Jewel Pouch and right-click while it is selected. This opens an identification menu with three options by default:

  • Two specific Jewel options, each showing a preview of the resulting modifier combination.
  • One random roll option, which produces a completely random Jewel instead of the two shown.

With the Jeweler Expertise specialization, the number of specific options increases to three, with the random roll becoming the fourth option.

Automatic Identification

Alternatively, the player may right-click the pouch on an Identification Station. This instantly generates one completely random Jewel, without showing any choices. This method does not consider the playerโ€™s current tool or preferences and offers no control over the outcome.

Jewel Capacity

Every standard Jewel consumes 10 capacity when socketed into a Vault Tool. Certain Unique Jewels may have a higher or lower capacity cost depending on their rarity or special effect.

Jewel Quality

Jewel quality determines how many modifiers the Jewel can contain.

Quality Description
Chipped Contains 1 Modifier
Flawed Contains 2 Modifiers
Flawless Contains 3 Modifiers
Perfect Contains 4 Modifiers

In addition, Jewels obtained from Jewel Pouches have a chance to be marked as Legendary, granting them above-average modifier rolls compared to their base quality tier.
