U20 Changes
These are all the upcoming changes to keep you in the loop. Note: These are not patch notes, this is the information that has been publicly released. Also be aware that anything listed below is subject to change from the Development team.
Herald Changes
| Before | After |
|---|---|
| Wave-based system where killing mobs dropped the Herald's HP slowly with random mobs spawning. | A circle appears where players must kill mobs inside to drop the health/time. This is optimized for speedrunners, is faster than before, and the vault's difficulty affects the circle's size. Mobs now spawn in a different, non-random pattern. |
New Challenge Rooms
A lot of rooms are getting overhauled, moving from eliminating mobs to puzzles/minigames. For U20, these are the rooms we are seeing an overhaul on.
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Horderush Room | It's "find the imposter" similar to "Among Us." Few mobs spawn and you have to kill the ones that don't match the normal mob (e.g., Lushcave mobs are green, you kill the blue imposters). |
| Wild West Room | Unknown at the current moment. |
| Memory Room | A pedestal in the center starts a memory game when clicked, requiring you to remember symbols and their color correlation. A correct sequence grants a reward, while a mistake spawns guardians. |
Unboxing Station
A new station for unidentifying jewels with a cleaner storage system. Jewels can be input via a hopper or other method. Right-clicking opens a menu to choose options or scrap jewels. The output drops below, allowing for easier automation and reducing lag.
Card Binder Station
A new station combining card storage and deck building. The menu features a search function, a square on the right to place your deck, and a UI on the left to view the deck, allowing you to mix and match cards to create your perfect deck, with the cards displayed in the center of the book.
Card Upgrade Station
This semi-new station (previously called the Card Juicing Station) now focuses on upgrading cards using a new item called "card juice." The change was made to prevent players from accidentally smelting cards and regretting it. Note: Smelting Cards is now done via the Vault Recycler, similar to how gear is recycled.
Card System Update
Cards have been massively overhauled. Textures were changed, and tier is now shown as a box lit up per tier.
- Evolution Cards now only have color and position requirements, with no card type requirement.
- Arcane Cards have no requirement and work the moment they are placed in the Arcane Slot.
- Decks now host Arcane Slots, which only accept Arcane Cards.
- Decks now have Sockets, which can be enchanted using an item called a Core, instead of random enchantments.
Note: Core drop locations are undecided; for now, they are rarely found by killing Champions, but this may change.
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Azure, Crimson, Golden, Viridian Core | All cards of the corresponding color will be 10% - 40% more efficient. |
| Steadfast Core | All stat cards will be x - 160% more efficient. |
| Bounty Core | Grants +1 - +3 Crate tier when completing a vault with 4 - 16 Resource cards. |
| Fortune Core | 10% chance for Resource cards to double rewards. |
| Shiny Core | All Foil cards will be x% more efficient. |
| Harvest Core | Reduces Resource card requirement by -x%. |
| Equilibrium Core | Grants x% Stat card efficiency per unique card color in the deck. |
| Imperial Core | All cards in 1 - 4 specific slots will be x% more efficient. |
Cores are applied by using an anvil.
Inventory HUD Rework
Major overhaul of the inventory/Vault HUD. Players can now change the size, transparency, and visibility of specific elements (e.g., armor, vault timer), with the exception of the main hotbar.
- Cards and Jewels now have an updated UI that displays their stats below when selected.
- A remade pickup notifier for Vault Hunters with more customization.
- A new visual design for the Vault Map UI.
Recharge Core
Can be used in an anvil to add a set amount of uses (charges) to Trinkets, Pendants, and Charms.
- Can be acquired by scraping Trinkets, Pendants, and Charms.
Flat Portals
Horizontal portals, as the name suggests.
Ascendant Mark
The Vorpal focus has been renamed. Players can now use the Ascendant Station to seal their gear, applying always-good buffs (some better than others).
| Any unique gear piece affixes (e.g., Iskallibur's overtime damage increase) |
| +1 to +4 to all abilities of a certain group (Utility, Offensive, etc.) |
| Attack Damage, Ability Damage, Crit Hit Resistance, Movement Speed |
Costs are calculated as follows:
- Ascendant Marks: Scrappy: 1, Common: 2, Rare: 3, Epic: 4, Omega: 5, Unique: 10
- Vault Gold: 6 per item level
- Painite: 10 per item level
Crystal Workbench UI
A much cleaner and simpler UI. On the left, players put in ingredients like Catalysts and Inscriptions. On the right, players place the Crystal to change modifiers like Seal, Augment, and Capstone.
Chaotic Gear
- New Gear Rarity: Chaotic (Dark Purple)
- Can be found by killing Champions and in Dungeons.
- Cannot be rerolled in the Artisan Station.
| Property Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Affix Count | Can roll 3 - 5 affixes. |
| Rule-Breaking Modifiers | Can have multiple of the same rolls. |
| Β | Can have mutually exclusive rolls on one gear. |
| Β | Can have a suffix in a prefix slot and vice versa. |
| Β | Can have an abnormal number of prefixes/suffixes (e.g., 3 prefixes and 1 suffix). |
Prestige Power Toggles
Prestige power keybinds allow players to quickly toggle powers on and off (e.g., Prismatic Feather for faster Elytra flight).
