Jewel Pouches are offered as a reward for looting Gilded vault chests within the vault. Once you receive a jewel pouch you will have to options to identify the jewel.
If you would like more control in the jewels you receive you can right click the jewel in your hand, you will then be presented with 3 options by default where you can pick one of the jewels to be generated. The first two options will be specific and offer the player a specific choice of the jewel and the 3rd slot will off the user to roll a random jewel as an alternative if the two presented do not meet the players requirements. You have the option to increase the specific choices to 3 options with the Jewelers expertise with the additional random roll being the 4th option.
If you prefer not to manually choose your jewel you can right click these on the identification station and you will automatically receive the best tool available from the pouch however this doesn't take into consideration the tool you are trying to build.
All Jewels will remove 10 capacity from the tool.(This excludes some of the Unique Jewels which have a higher capacity cost)
Jewels have different classifications based on the quantity of modifications you get.

In addition jewels received from jewel pouches have a chance to be Legendary giving them an above the base role of modification.
