Most mods in Vault Hunters are locked behind Research. The player can find Knowledge Essence inside living chests and craft Knowledge Stars with some Vault Diamonds and Benitoite.

After right clicking a Knowledge Star in the air the player receive one unspent knowledge point. Those points can be spent inside the Research tab. Each additional member in the research party adds a +50% cost increase.
