Greed
More actions
Greed is an endgame progression system in Vault Hunters that functions as an endless scaling mode. It becomes available after defeating the Herald and is centered around repeatedly entering Greed Trials, surviving as long as possible, earning Greed Coins, and increasing your Greed Tier.
The Greed system is designed as an infinite difficulty climb with its own progression tree, special rewards, and scaling encounters.
Unlocking
After completing the Herald, players unlock access to Greed Trials.
A new tab is added to the skill tree UI, which acts as the main hub for the Greed system. This tab shows:
- Your current Greed Tier
- The statistics of your current tier
- The statistics of the next tier
- Your available Greed progression nodes
- A button labeled Take Trials
Using Take Trials sends the player into the Greed Trial arena.
Core Mechanics
The Greed system revolves around repeated trial runs and escalating difficulty.
- Each time a player dies in a Greed Trial, their Greed Tier may increases
- Higher tiers increase the overall difficulty and scaling of encounters
- Progressing through tiers unlocks Greed Nodes
- Greed Nodes provide powerful upgrades and progression options
- At higher tiers, enemies become stronger and encounters become more dangerous
At Tier 1+, special Greed Assassins can appear when killing mobs.
- Killing Greed Assassins rewards Greed Coins
- Greed Assassins also reward Greed Reputation
Greed Coins
Greed Coins are the primary currency of the Greed system.
Coins can be earned through:
- Surviving longer in Greed Trials
- Killing Greed Assassins
- Completing requests in the Greed Cauldron
They can be spent at Mr Greedy over the Greed Anchor.
Greed Tier
Greed progression is divided into tiers.
| Tier | Threshold |
|---|---|
| 0 | 0 |
| 1 | 50 |
| 2 | 100 |
| 3 | 200 |
Each Greed Tier increases the difficulty of the system and pushes builds further with stronger enemies and tougher encounters.
Greed Trial
The Greed Trial is a dedicated boss-fight-style arena accessed through the Greed interface.
The goal is to survive for as long as possible. The longer the run continues, the more Greed Coins are earned.
Vessel Phases
The Greed Trial vessel scales through multiple damage phases. Each phase defines a damage goal and the number of coins earned per minute.
| Damage Goal | Coins per Minute |
|---|---|
| 25,000 | 1 |
| 50,000 | 2 |
| 100,000 | 5 |

| 800,000 | 22 |
| 1,600,000 | 32 |
| 3,200,000 | 45 |
| 6,400,000 | 65 |
| 12,800,000 | 90 |
| 25,000,000 | 120 |
| 50,000,000 | 160 |
