While playing vault hunters you will be introduced to your first vault too via the vault tool quest. The can be modified with affinities and traits that will impact both how you loot and the reward from looting in the vault at a cost of the tools capacity
There are two types of upgrades to the tool, Block affinity and loot modification. Block Affinity changes how the tool behaves on both building blocks and vault chests while loot modification can improve the players stats to increase loot received, quality of loot and reduced the chance for the player to get a trap.
In addition to this there are unique jewels found in challenge rooms that provide a different benefit to the user such as Mana Bloom which will give the player mana back when looting. For more details surrounding Unique Jewels please check the unique page.
There are 5 base tool types available for you to craft that can be altered to meet the individual player and their playstyle.
Combining the base tool with a additional base affinity will change the type of tool you have and how it behaves both in the overworld and the vault.
